Central Schwenkfelder Barn Sale in Lansdale: What to Know Before You Go

If you enjoy thrift stores, flea markets, yard sales, or treasure hunting, there’s a good chance you’ll love the Central Schwenkfelder Barn Sale in Lansdale.

Held on the third Saturday of most months between May and October, this volunteer-run event draws bargain hunters from across Montgomery County. While the sale is hosted at Central Schwenkfelder Church, it’s much more than a typical church rummage sale. The event spans multiple buildings and features thousands of items ranging from clothing and toys to collectibles, antiques, books, tools, and household goods.

If you’ve ever visited Merrymead Farm, you’re already familiar with the location. The barn sale is essentially right across the street.

What You’ll Find

The sale is spread across two large buildings behind the church.

The lower level of the white building is dedicated primarily to clothing. During my visit, I’d estimate the selection was roughly 70% women’s clothing and 30% men’s clothing. Dressing rooms are available if you’d like to try items on, although you may have to wait during busier times.

Upstairs you’ll find children’s clothing, with clearly posted fixed pricing by item type. Nearby is a room packed with toys, games, puzzles, and children’s items. There was a nice mix of newer products alongside some vintage finds.

The Red Barn Is the Main Attraction

While there are plenty of tables and merchandise outside, the Red Barn is where most shoppers spend their time.

The barn contains thousands of items organized into sections, making it easier to browse despite the large inventory. During normal sale hours it can get quite crowded, but the layout does a good job keeping traffic moving.

One section worth checking out first is “Grandma’s Attic.”

This area contains many of the more collectible items including:

  • Vintage toys
  • Sports memorabilia
  • Coins
  • Collectibles
  • Antiques
  • Items commonly found on eBay

Unlike some thrift stores where you’re constantly looking up values on your phone, many items here have already been researched and labeled with useful information such as dates, manufacturers, or historical details.

Throughout the barn you’ll find hanging signs that help direct shoppers to different categories, but honestly, this is the type of place where you’ll probably want to walk every aisle.

A Surprisingly Well-Organized Shopping Experience

One thing that stood out during my visit was how organized everything was.

The shelves were neatly arranged, categories were clearly labeled, and volunteers were actively helping shoppers. For a sale of this size, it felt easy to navigate.

I also spotted a few categories that have become increasingly difficult to find elsewhere. One example was a dedicated cassette tape section. I’ve visited countless thrift stores over the years and rarely see cassettes anymore.

It’s the kind of place where you never know what you’ll discover around the next corner.
